SAPI Plate Level III+ STA

SAPI Plate Level III+ STA, is a UHMW-PE plate, by Masada Armour, that stops projectiles up to 7.62X39mm and 5.56mm. In addition to fragmentation, SAPI Plate Level III+ STA is necessary to protect against higher-velocity rifle rounds,

SAPI Plate Level III+ STA  offers excellent impact resistance, low moisture absorption, and high tensile strength. It is actually a very popular engineering plastic and is sometimes confused with other similar materials. For instance, It comes in several different grades which delineate the purposes that it is best suited for.

    • Ballistic material: UHMW-PE (Polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum).
    • The protection level is III+ Multi Hits according to NIJ interim requirements.

Ballistic levels:

Bulletproof vests are trapping and slow bullets down as they attempt to pass through the vest. Therefore, Bulletproof Vests come in two different types; hard and soft.  In addition, the ‘soft’ armor protects against most handgun and small arms ammunition, whereas ‘hard’ armor stops high caliber and armor-piercing rounds.

    • Thickness: 20mm ± 2. = 1 inch
    • Weight: ±1500 gr. =  3 pounds and 30 ounces

About UHMW-PE:

UHMW (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) is an extremely tough plastic with high abrasion and wear resistance. Therefore, the versatility of polyethylene has made it a popular plastic for countless industrial applications that require durability, low friction, and chemical resistance.
